How to get there?

The subject of geometric invariants has a history of two hundred years. The classical invariant theory studies the intrinsic properties of polynomials. In the procedure of its development, more abstract algebraic concepts and systems emerged, such as brackets, matroids, tableaux, tensors, extensors and geometric algebras. Recent decades have witnessed a dramatic resurgence of this venerable subject, with dramatic new applications, ranging from topology and geometry, to physics, computer-aided automated reasoning and design, robotics, computer vision and pattern recognition. The rise of computer algebra systems has brought previously infeasible computations within our grasp. As a result, the subject should hold a particular fascination, not only for students and practitioners, but also for mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists working on efficient methods and algorithms for geometric computation.

The International Workshop on Geometric Invariance and Applications in Engineering (GIAE) is organized by the Key Laboratory of Mathematics Mechanization of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition of CAS, and Xi'an University of Science and Technology. It aims at the interchange of views and ideas on the development of related subjects for the purpose of world-wide cooperations, by establishing a nice forum for people working on related subjects to meet, collaborate and exchange ideas.   • Mount Huashan:
    
    The most sacred mountain in the western part of China. The name of the whole nation in Chinese, "Central Hua", comes from the name of this mountain. We shall go up and down the mountain by cable cars.

  REGISTRATION

  • Full registration: $200.
  • Partial registration: $150, if you only want to participate one of the tours.
  • Basic registration fee: $100, if you do not want to attend any of the tours.

  The registration fee covers:

  • Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for five days from May 24 to May 28;
  • Conference banquet;
  • Conference material and service;
  • Transportation between the conference hotel and  Xianyang International Airport (40 km away);
  • Sightseeing expenses for both tours, including tour buses, guides, tickets, cable cars, drink and meals.

  CONFERENCE PLACE

  ACCOMMODATIONS

  The guest rooms in the conference hotel all have two beds, and the discount price during the conference is 220 RMB per room per night. We have reserved a limited number of hotel rooms. We have also reserved some rooms in the guest house of Xi'an Univ. of Science and Technology, which is 15 minutes away from the conference hotel by walk, and which costs 70 RMB per room per night. If you need a room, please inform us as soon as possible.

   

  It is convenient to apply for a tourist visa to enter China. In this case, you do not need any document from us. If you intend to apply for a business visa to enter China, please contact us.
